Admin Favorites

As admins of a cleaning page, we get asked two questions pretty often.

  1. Is your house, like, always clean?

    • No. The answer is always, unequivocally no.

  2. What’s your favorite cleaning product?

Here, on this page, we have attempted to list our favorite cleaning items just for you!

Heather DeVoll

  • General cleaner: Bleach, Blue Dawn

  • Kitchen cleaner (oven, fridge, sink, pots/pans, counters, etc): Windex, Method All Purpose, Vinegar

  • Bathroom cleaner (toilet, tub, sink, etc): Method Bathroom, Bleach

  • Vacuum/mop/broom: O Cedar Spray Mop, Bissell Pet

  • Quick cleaner: Vinegar

  • Dish soap/detergent: Blue Dawn, Cascade

  • What have you started using based on recommendations from our group members?

  • Blue Dawn. I used to buy whatever was cheapest for dish soap and noticed that I went through it really quickly. I’ve had the same thing of Dawn for months now. Also, Persil. We used to use whatever was cheapest and what I knew didn’t give me hives, which was Purex. I tried Persil on a recommendation from here and didn’t have a reaction. I’m also still on the first bottle I bought because you need so little.

Much of the general grease and grime of everyday life that may look impossible to clean without using a harsh chemical in a spray bottle can be easily cleaned with hot water with a bit of dish soap in it, and a little elbow grease with the right tool (sponge, scotch pad, dishcloth)

  • What have you started using based on recommendations from our group members?

  1. Folex! This stuff is made of magic. It’s made the carpeting in my 2011 minivan look brand new. The years old set in stains disappeared before my eyes.

  2. Pine Sol in the wash – I add a splash to my detergent for every load. It makes my clothes smell fresh and clean and keeps my towels from smelling musty.

  3. BKF on like everything. It’s taken rust spots off my stainless steel refrigerator, cleaned up my oven, my stainless steel sink, my crock pot, my knives. I love it. I use the powder for horizontal surfaces and the liquid for vertical ones.
